Artist Day at Snap! Space

Join us and artists Elise Bloom, Wendy Sacks, Heather Evans Smith, Fahan Sky McDonagh, Sydney Cash and Thomas Dodd (Wendy, Heather, Sydney and Thomas via Skype) as they walk us through their work, their process, their experiences and interact with a Q&A. It is the last day of our 'Edge of a Dream' exhibit.

Artists' Schedule and Info:

2:00 PM
Elise Bloom: Elise Bloom is a Florida based photographer. She began candidly photographing her two daughters from an early age through their teenage years, and continuously documented their interactions. This was the genesis of her project ‘In Close Proximity’. The project became a way to explore the concepts of togetherness, aloneness and the family unit versus individual identity. In Close Proximity also highlights spatial proximity and independence juxtaposed with interrelations within the family environment. http://elisebloom.com/

2:30 PM
Wendy Sacks: Young girls and boys are the subjects of these dramatic, strongly emotional, and passionate photographs by New York photographer Wendy Sacks. Each water-based scene demonstrates moments of loneliness, the bonds of family, unrequited love, or untimely death. They reveal ‘an understanding of children with the knowledge of developmental stages and the struggle of the human spirit.’ Sacks is an international, award winning photographer. She is the recipient of the 2013 International Fine Art Grand Prix De la Découverte Award and 2 time Juror Award of Merit, Paris, France. http://wendysacks.photoshelter.com/

3:00 PM:
Heather Evans Smith: Heather Evans Smith is an award winning fine art and conceptual portrait photographer based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Her work captures both the everyday and the whimsical, telling stories of women and struggle, reality and the surreal. Smith’s work was chosen as winner of Ron Howard’s Project Imaginat10n. Her image ‘Talk To Me’ was also the grand prize winner in PDN/ Emerging Photographers Magazine’s Go Indie Contest, 2014. http://heatherevanssmith.com/

3:30 PM
Fahan Sky Mcdonagh: Fahan Sky McDonagh is a professional art teacher but also considers herself a student for life. Sky, who earned a Master’s of Fine Art specializing in glass from Rochester Institute of Technology, creates sculpture using many different glass techniques. Works from her stunning and delicate Pate de Verre series ‘Satori’ are on view at Snap! Space for the first time. http://www.fahanskymcdonagh.com/

4:00 PM
Sydney Cash: Sydney Cash’s new ‘ReMastered Portraits’ work revisits the classics of art history. Cash begins with a photo of a high-quality painting from the past, then paints a contemporary design over it. The creativity of recovering old art through new design brings fascination both to the original work and Cash’s new creation. Cash’s other works, involving glass, mirrors and projected shadows, have been collected by the likes of the Museum of Modern Art and Le Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He has had more than 40 one-person exhibitions worldwide. http://www.sydneycash.com/

4:30 PM
Thomas Dodd: Thomas Dodd is an Atlanta based photographer and digital artist whose work blurs the lines between photography and classical art. His photographic images seamlessly blend the worlds of fantasy and surrealism and have been featured in magazines, on book covers, and in art galleries around the world. His work is on permanent exhibition in Paris at the Galerie L’oeil du Prince and at the Art Gallery Constantin in Senlis, France. http://thomasdodd.com
