'Shabazz | Theodore' Opening

Snap! Space presents new works by legendary New York documentary photographer Jamel Shabazz, while introducing works by Philadelphia-based artist Shawn Theodore. Artists present on opening night. Curated by Patrick & Holly Kahn. Snap! Space, 1013 E. Colonial Dr. Orlando, 32803.

Thank you to all who attended the exhibition opening of 'Shabazz | Theodore'. It was an honor and privilege to welcome Jamel Shabazz and Shawn Theodore who joined us for this magical evening, with over 600 guests, including out of state visitors.

Shawn Theodore
Shawn Theodore is a multidisciplinary Philadelphia-based artist working in photography, video, and collage. His practice focuses on the fragmentation and manipulation of African American and African Diasporan identities and otherness, while exploring concepts of race, spirituality, patriarchy, matriarchy and class structure within disappearing Black communities.

Jamel Shabazz
Native Brooklynite and chronicler of street fashion, Jamel Shabazz has spent the last 40 years photographing New York City life. A documentarian of African-American culture, he embarked on a mission to photograph various aspects of life from youth culture to a wide range of social conditions. Shabazz is the author of 5 monographs and has contributed to numerous others.
